iREAD Technology Announcement

We are pleased to announce that Next Generation Technologies, Inc. has concluded an exclusive marketing agreement for North America with CharacTell of Tel Aviv, Israel for their revolutionary ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition) technology called iREAD Notes Pro. This is a breakthrough scanning technology that promises to be of significant utility to many of our corporate clients and provides the following capability: you can take handwritten documents on regular paper and convert them to Word documents using a regular TWAIN compatible scanner.

Many people are familiar with OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology--basically, using a scanner, OCR software takes a picture of a printed document and analyzes it to produce an electronic document which cannot be easily manipulated or changed. iREAD Notes Pro's ICR technology, as opposed to OCR, uses sophisticated algorithms and advanced heuristic support, to convert handwritten documents (not merely printed) with a high degree of accuracy directly into the Microsoft Word and other formats.

We anticipate product availability by March 31, 2002-and will be releasing a press release as the date approaches.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 6: Properties in Vocabulary Editor Capability

Part of our responsibility to our clients continues to be the exploration of features in capabilities of some of our core technologies. Dragon NaturallySpeaking introduced a new feature set that will be of significant value to many of our medical/legal clients using NaturallySpeaking technology. Basically, the folks at Dragon have included elements of the old VocEdit tool directly into the Vocabulary Editor (Which can now be launched with the command Start Vocabulary Editor.). By applying Properties to a custom word, you can easily create voice launched commands with special properties. For examples, after the custom word is said Dragon inserts a return and is ready for the new dictation or using the word Regarding, makes it type Re: without a trailing space before the next text is inserted. This feature is very easy to use and will have significant utility for people trying to create voice launched templates/voice insertions within templates. Feel free to contact us if you'd like more information about how best to utilize this capability.

NCCE Conference Presentation

NGT, Inc. will be presenting for the second year in a row at the Northwest Council for Computer Education (NCCE). This year's conference will be held in Seattle, WA at the Washington. State Convention & Trade Center from March 13-16. We will hope to see educators from the Pacific Northwest attending the conference at our session.

Pentium 4 Notebook Computer System Availability

We have just been informed that one of our favorite notebook computer system manufacturers (Sager-Midern) will be introducing a line of notebook computer systems based on the revolutionary mobile Pentium 4 computer processor prior to the end of the month of March. System specifications include Pentium 4, 2 GHz processor; 512 K. on-die cache (historically very important for the support of speech input utilities); 64 MB ATI Mobility Radeon Video; 3-D audio-chip set to be determined. We will be testing this new computer system--assume this is released and I will post review in next month's newsletter. As a by the way, Sager also has a new model with a built in flash RAM card reader that can read the flash cards from popular digital recorders from Sony and Panasonic.

CSUN Conference on Technologies and Persons with Disabilities Conference Presentation

NGT, Inc. will be presenting two workshops at the upcoming California State to University at Northridge Conference on Technologies and Persons with Disabilities Conference (CSUN). This is our third consecutive year presenting at this Conference. Anybody that wishes to speak with us should feel free to contact us care of our Marriott Hotel-Los Angeles Airport accommodations. (One of the best things about attending CSUN is the chance to hear from end-users and developers about exciting new technologies that are being brought to the market. We'll look forward to seeing many of you there and giving you all an update upon our return.)

Intel Pentium 4/Microsoft Product Announcement

On Feb. 27 Intel and Microsoft announced the anticipated 2003 release of a new Pentium 4 processor with speeds as high as 4.0 GHz. This desktop processor will use a new multithreading technology designed to convince the Windows operating system that it is running on parallel processors, when in fact, it is running on a single processor. There have been a number of other significant processor announcements in the last month (IBM is announcing a 200 GHz processor for routers, etc.). It continues to show that computer technology will improve at a brisk pace and this bodes well for everyone using state-of-the-art technologies.

I like to take this opportunity to personally thank our clients and supporters for their continued patronage and support. We have a number of other exciting initiatives taking place within Next Generation Technologies, Inc and I will look forward to sharing these with you over the next several months. In the interim, please don't hesitate to contact us whenever we can be of service.

Ed. Rosenthal
