Dragon Naturally Speaking 9

It's my guess that most of you are aware that Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 9.0 is now available in all its versions and in all its upgrade versions. We've been using this product in production now for approximately 1 month and it is most impressive. We haven't observed any significant product bugs, and many of the features that are listed in the What's New a really terrific. Most notable amongst all the changes is improved accuracy. I've listed a few highlights and additional information can be found at the ngtvoice.com website.

In addition to improved accuracy, there are improved support tutorials built into the product and there is support for Bluetooth input microphones.

There was substantial engineering to improve support for use in the Healthcare environment and this includes things like: Internet-based roaming profile (VPN); GUI NS admin utility manager and supporting administrators guide; the ability to put in voice notes for deferred transcription; and reported improved support for use in the Citrix environment. We've had the opportunity to work with the new Dictation Box utility in conjunction with a number of the EMR applications and are most pleased with the new functionality and user definable Settings now available.

Remember, if you have individually licensed Dragon NaturallySpeaking Professional, Medical, Legal version 8/8.1 and a valid installation key upgrades are available at $99.99 (plus tax and shipping) until September 15, 2006. Subsequent to that time pricing will revert to the standard upgrade prices.

Disk Cleanup and Defragmention

It seems timely to remind our clients that the Microsoft Windows operating system includes two utilities (almost others) meant to help maintain your PC health. These are the Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter, and both are located on the All Programs /Accessories /System Tools menus. Using these in conjunction with a spybot cleaner can significantly improve the system performance and we recommend they be run no less than once monthly (I do this each week prior to conducting my critical file backup). Also, you can schedule these tools to run automatically at regular intervals as long as the would be running.

iTunes Accessible Software Interface

We are pleased to announce the domestic US and Canadian release of the iTunes Accessible Software Interface for Jaws for Windows from T&T Consultancy. This product provides improved interoperability between the iTunes download webpage and Jaws for Windows screen reading software; making the iPod technology a more viable tool for blind/low vision users. We are very pleased with this technology and it has been well received by those individuals that have started using it already. Additional information can be provided by sending e-mail to our J-Say product specialist, Swandi Chan.

Olympus Digital Recorder Software Update

For those of you that are currently using the Olympus DS 4000 or DS2300 digital recorders Olympus has just released an upgrade for their DSS Player Pro software which provides download capability and interoperability control with NaturallySpeaking.

WYNN 5

Freedom Scientific has announced the release of their latest WYNN software, version 5. This new product release continues the development of WYNN Wizard and Reader which provide support for individuals with learning disabilities and language challenges.

Motion Computing LE 1600 BIOS Update

Motion Computing has announced that they have posted an updated BIOS for the LE 1600 tablet PC. If you are unfamiliar with this process please contact NGT or your tablet vendor for additional information.

MagniTalk 90.9x

Michael Bjork has been hard at work developing the latest MagniTalk product release that provides interoperability with ZoomText Magnifier/Reader 9.x and Dragon NaturallySpeaking Professional 9. Our latest product release of MagniTalk 90.9x is now available and shipping. Additional information can be received by contacting Michael Bjork and product pricing has remained at $289.50 per license for an individual user license.

J-Say Pro Version 4 Update

We have heard from the good people at T&T Consultancy and the development team that J-Say Pro 4 should be available for distribution in the United States and Canada prior to the end of September, 2006. This product is currently undergoing beta cycle testing and we anticipate additional information over the next few weeks. J-Say Pro 4 will provide interoperability with Jaws for Windows 7.1 and Dragon NaturallySpeaking Professional 9.

As the summer winds down and we enter the long Labor Day holiday weekend I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the continued opportunity to be of service and remember that we strive to be a company that is "easy to do business with." Call on us any time.
